After careful consideration, the Sales & Marketing Council has reluctantly decided to cancel the 2008 Parade of Homes and People’s Choice Awards competition. Given the precipitous drop in new home construction and the challenging business climate in which our builders, subcontractors, suppliers and associate members are being forced to deal with, it was felt that cancellation of the Parade until Spring 2009 was the most responsible choice for BANN and its members at this time.
Since its inception in 2001, the Parade of Homes has always held to a very high standard, incorporating a top-notch advertising campaign, the production of a full-color “coffee-table quality” Guidebook, and first-class parties and awards ceremonies. While a number of builders were prepared to participate, signups this year reflected the decreased housing output, and our traditional sponsors were unable to step up to the level required to produce a quality Parade in 2008. The SMC and BANN are unwilling to compromise on a “lesser” product for our participating builders and the home buying public, and chose instead to focus on other programs that will recognize our industry’s continued excellence.
You can be sure, however, the plans are already in the works for 2009 Parade of Homes—and you can bet it will be back….bigger and better than ever!
