BUILDERS ASSOCIATION TO RELEASE HOUSING CONSTRUCTION ECONOMIC IMPACT STUDY

March 1, 2007 - Reno, Nev. – A comprehensive study, compiled by the University of Nevada, Reno to be released on March 8 by the Builders Association of Northern Nevada (The Builders) shows an economic impact of more than $860 million in local income contributed by the housing construction industry.

The study will be revealed and explained by Elliot Eisenberg, Ph.D., senior economist at the National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB) and Brian Bonnefant, geographic program manager with the Nevada Small Business Development Center at the University of Nevada, Reno, at the association’s inaugural Northern Nevada Building Conference (NNBC) on Thursday, March 8 at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.

Eisenberg will make the presentation and share his analysis of the data at an 8 a.m. breakfast to kick-off the NNBC.

“The housing construction data is of the utmost importance to the region’s economy,” said Bambi Spahr, executive director of The Builders. “For example, the one-year local economic benefits of building 3,294 single family homes in 2006 in Reno and Sparks resulted in $861 million in local income and 17,978 local jobs.”

The Builders commissioned UNR to compile the study using the economic impact model of the NAHB.

In addition to Eisenberg’s presentation, the NNBC will feature more than 25 building industry education seminars and a 39,000 square-foot trade show from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. There will also be a second keynote presentation from John Schleimer, principal at Market Perspectives, a strategic marketing firm specializing in the real estate industry during the noon hour.

NNBC’s other seminars will be conducted by national and local building industry experts and professionals including Karen Butera, founder and president of Karen Butera Inc. (KBI), and Robert August, founder and president of S. Robert August and Company, Inc. KBI is a multidisciplinary interior design firm specializing in innovative design and merchandising. S. Robert August and Company is a full-service marketing, management, sales and consulting firm specializing in creating strategies to promote real estate products and services. BANN’s Sales and Marketing Council will sponsor the seminars conducted by Butera and August.

Registration includes the keynote breakfast presentation by Eisenberg, the keynote luncheon report by Schleimer, access to educational seminars and entry into the industry trade show and exposition.
